EID MUBARAK. we did it Ummah pogchamps, a whole month of fasting down once again. I hope it was easy for you

Eid al-Fitr is one of the major holidays in Islam, and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, where Muslims the world over fast from sunrise to sunset in order to build humility, empathy, and faith with those around them and the world at large who suffer from going without all year round. it is a day of prayers, community, and a lot of really great sweets.

Eid al-Fitr is marked by the sighting of the new moon, as Islam follows a lunar calendar. because of this Eid al-Fitr not only changes dates through the Gregorian year but also can be different between different countries where some sight the moon, and others do not.

God, online drama may be more readily accessible, but Trot group drama will always be the best

One of my favorite things to do is just listen to someone who is/was part of a Trot org recount every little detail of the org's drama over the course of hours. It's just so fucking fascinating

it's funny until you hear about the 12 rape crises and assault callouts that were covered up by leadership. that shit happens a lot

the left is very insular and under attack so people feel a need to defend against anything that makes them look bad. because politics is passionate and personal you get close to comrades a lot, and relationships sexual romantic and platonic come out of this. then you throw in how young a lot of people are in many orgs and how this stuff happens in people's social circles too. and boom, you now have a lot of people who know the accused, have a deep reason to want to cover shit up, and a prime ground for it to happen in in the first place.

it's not just trots to be clear, but they are much bigger in the english speaking left world of activism, so when you hear about it you hear about trot orgs being where this happens

I've been to more than one org where the first thing they say when inducting new people is "DO NOT USE THIS ORG AS A DATING SERVICE".

I've met a few exes via activism. if it's a lot of what you do in your free time and you see the same people all the time, feelings develop. even if it's made taboo, or outright banned, it's gonna happen. humans are social and not good at turning that off. the best thing to do is to have ways to deal with it rather than go full jedi order

I appreciate the insight. It sucks that it seems like we're not living up to the feminism we aspire to. :trans-sad:

♌n is imo not an interesting figure at all. Just a minority opposition within the party, got purged. Wrote some stuff that was up for consideration in his time, but didn't hold weight after his death.

Western Marxists just like a martyr.

Trotsky lead the red army of workers and peasants to victory over imperialism, tsarism, and counter revolution. to call him a groomer or w/e is kinda crass when there's nothing I've ever read about that. his later split with stalin lead to some weird takes, but he was a Bolshevik and one of the closest people to Lenin
