Simple actually: he's sees whoever his enemy is as fascists and America as a righteous force for good in the world. America fought the fascists in WWII, so we can't possibly be fascist.

Barely. American capitalists, Republicans and Dixiecrats, spent the 1930s avoiding an anti-fascist alliance with Stalin, funded and did business with fascist capitalists in Germany and Italy, wrote thinkpieces about how Hitler was mostly antisemitic to trick bigots into supporting him, and how Mussolini made the trains run on time, tried to carry out the fascist "Business Plot" against FDR, sold weapons and vehicles to both sides, joined the war late, provided mostly logistical support to the Soviets, while letting the soviets soak up most of the combat deaths, rehabilitated and integrated high ranking nazis into NASA, NATO, CIA, etc. executed a few of the worst for show at Nuremberg, paid reparations to nazi capitalists like Krupp for private property destroyed by allied bombing campaigns, and dropped 2 nukes on Japan to, among other things, send a message to Stalin and prevent the Soviets from gaining influence in the Pacific.
