yeah i get that theres an association with weird MRAs but making fun of all anti-circumcision stances is a very uncritical view that i see too much in leftist spaces

I remember that the Chapo boys used to mock intactivists, but then they fortunately had a change of heart. Felix said that we'll look back on it the way that people used to mock anti Iraq War demonstrators.

I agree with the consent argument. Because circumcision is a medically pointless (at best) procedure that is permanent and irreversible. Vaccines and medicines not only have a clear medical benefit with little-to-no downsides, they are generally not permanent.

I'm all for children's rights and I'm definitely against things like piercing infants' ears. But as a parent you do have to make a lot of "nonconsensual" decisions for babies because they cannot make any decisions themselves. The difference is there's a clear benefit. When my kid is screaming with an earache technically me giving them ibuprofen is nonconsensual, but it's obvious why I'm doing it.

It's the fixation that's weird. Like, yeah, be upset. But don't you have anything more important to care about? Like things that are affecting people every day. Women's rights, worker's rights, food shortages, even voting rights have more of an impact than whether or not some guy had 2% of his penis skin. I was circumcised and I don't ever really think about it except when talking about penis with the lads or someone specifically asks, it doesn't affect my life.

Also losing the ridged band completely, which is as sensitive as the frenulum and can allow some people to achieve multiple orgasms in a short period of time.

The fact that is area of the penis was only "discovered" and anatomically recorded in the late 1990s is really a failure of modern medicine.

This isn't trying to be an MRA incel about it or anything, just wondering how an oversight like this was possible.

My circumcision makes my penis tear and bleed when I masturbate and makes it difficult for me to achieve orgasm during sex.

Circumcision also causes permanent psychological damage.

You don't know what you're talking about. Fuck off.

"I was sexually assaulted so that gives me the right to mock other SA survivors."

Because comparing something that happened before I could even form long-term memories and has had no other impact on my life other than my dick theoretically not working as well as it could otherwise to having your bodily autonomy forcibly violated and having to relive that experience for the rest of your life is pretty fucked dude

Imagine if a person was sexually assaulted while they were in a coma. They have no conscious memory of the abuse, but they are emotionally disturbed by the fact that someone violated them while they were helpless. Now imagine that this person has physical scars from the assault that they carry with them for the rest of their lives. Would you berate this person for feeling upset?

                Do you see the similarities?

                I stand by the analogy.

It’s not a “cosmetic” surgery and no parent is thinking that they want their infant child to have a sexier penis.

"Cosmetic" is used to convey that the surgery is elective and not therapeutic.

Genital cutting of both sexes is also often done partially for the perceived benefit to the child's future sexual partner. This goes hand in hand with conformity. Circumcision promoters routinely argue that it looks better. I don't think acknowledging these facts is anti-feminist. Men are still the primary promoters of male circumcision. If an MRA tries to tell you that it's women's fault they're wrong.

I agree that the trauma of the infant should be central. It bothers me when people say that "it doesn't matter because they won't remember it". If I were able to erase someone's memory in the future, would that make it okay for me to abuse them in the present? A conscious memory is also not necessary for there to be a negative psychological impact.
