Sort of, but the anti-masturbation (and broadly anti-sensuous pleasure) beliefs of J.H. Kellogg were very much informed by his Seventh Day Adventist beliefs, and comported well with the general puritan Christian morality that pervaded American culture to an even greater degree at the time.
yeah i was pointing it out for those who don't live in the USA because it's a unique weirdness that I think is only found here. I don't think it happens in England but I could be wrong about that.

US spread circumcision to south korea which now has an even higher rate than the US iirc
