I'm going to be studying the soviet union and its history and would love some book recc's about the USSR under the helmsmanship of Khrushev, Brezhnev, Gorbachev, etc.

Seconding the Invent the Future series on the Soviet collapse. It's not on the level of a full history book in terms of the level of detail and original analysis, but it's a solid summary of the major factors involved in the end of the USSR, and aside from that topic also has some choice statistics on the successes of Soviet socialism. Good for sharing. The citations could also lead you to other books/articles, like the Keeran book, there's a couple books by Vijay Prashad in there, and views given by Deng Xiaoping & Xi Jinping on the subject.
