Slaughter Beach, Dog is a band from Philadelphia formed by Jake Ewald of Modern Baseball and was fully realized after Modern Baseball went on an indefinite hiatus due to Jake Ewald suffering from writers block. They have released four Studio albums (Welcome, Birdie, Safe And Also No Fear, At The Moonbase) and two EPs (Dawg and Motorcycle.jpeg). Birdie is for sure my favorite album by them. The band just seems to know how to write a melody that worms its way into your head. The chorus melody in sleepwalking is particularly ear wormy for me personally. If you like this a few other songs I would suggest listening to are 104 degrees, Gold and Green, Glowing, Monsters, and Acolyte (a fan favorite).
I listened to modern baseball a lot in highschool, and my roommate got into slaughter beach, dog a couple years ago. One day he's playing one of their songs and I say "oh shit is there new modern baseball?" To which he replies "no this is slaughter beach, dog, who's modern baseball?" So I show him some songs and we're shocked at how similar they are, even remarking about how the vocalist has the same name.
It didn't click for like a week
Holy shit that's pretty good. I first heard them on an audiotree far out session and was stoked to see a modern baseball guy but if it wasn't for seeing it in video I probably would have been in the same boat.
