I think that instead of executing the rich we just make them work in a call center and live in a studio apartment for the rest of their lives

Comrade, please be reasonable. The guillotine is a humane execution, unlike the slow descent into suicide. Torture should absolutely be avoided in all reasonable cases.

Now redesign an interchange in a populated area in C:S, but keep track of all the houses you demolish, write them down somewhere. calculate how many families you displaced.

C:S is great fun, but I'd love to play it with a mod where changes take time to build and have some consequences, forcing you to work around your mistakes rather than just being able to flatten the entirety of downtown and rebuilding it at the drop of a hat. I really like the idea of building towns that have layers of history going on.

I mean it wouldn’t be fun and having construction work make traffic worse As you try to urgently improve it goes against much of what is fun about the game as a builder, but it would still be an interesting challenge.

I've marched along a parade route chanting "this is what democracy looks like" as recently as 2018.

That’s a banger of a chant, though. It puts in people’s minds that democracy happens on the streets, not in the ballot box.

The parade route nature is so-so, but better than nothing.

I think freedom of speech is really important. I wouldn't call myself an absolutist, because I don't think there's any place for hate speech, but censorship laws in China, Cuba and the USSR start a kneejerk reaction of discomfort in me.

Yes. I tend to go with the "your right to swing your arm" quote with regards to free speech, combined with the ideas of dignitary safety. So stuff like anti-vaxxers, that put people at risk with what they say should be censored.

I would prefer to transition to communism through a proliferation of worker owned coops and radical democracy, rather than dying in a gunfight or drone strike to fascists and liberals.

Unfortunately, the hard limit of the environmental crisis makes this seem nonviable. I fear America is too far gone ideologically to be saved from the descent into fascism.

Short story: A republican candidate for county commissioner left a flyer at our door, and I told my mom she shouldn't vote for her because of the candidate's presumptive ideology. I was accused of needing to label everyone. "Why?" she asks. ...I could not even get my mother (apolitical and not interested in learning anything new) to commit -- in a thought experiment -- to the idea that she would have to stop hanging out with someone if she found out they were an active member of the KKK. That is the absolute state of what I believe is the majority of the generations that came before us. Even though we're no longer breathing in leaded fuel fumes (at least in theory), our education system is totally corporatized and getting worse and worse.

Even if we could empower the proliferation of worker coops, they simply don't address the issue that they are still "private" firms which function to generate profits for their participants, which is a huge problem and always seems to lead to corruption, imperialism, the rape of the environment, etc.

F1 is absolutely fascinating from an engineering perspective, and the drivers have nerves of steel. It is a shame this can only exist in such a bourgeois setting under capitalism.

I know. F1 is incredibly good in terms of spectacle, but it's ruined for me (somewhat) by just how much of a douche almost everyone involved with it is. being a chud is basically a prerequisite for getting anywhere near the paddock
