    Beijing has unaffordable housing

New city with abundant housing will be built within a 35 min train ride of Beijing

How will China get people to move there?

Truly a mystery for the ages.

35 min train ride to work is legit god tier, you can just vibe and nap whereas with a car you gotta shit yourself as some dude cuts you off and tries to kill you

"It may go like China's other ghost cities"

Oh no, you mean get built ahead of time and then filled into a bustling metropolis??? Imagine the horror.

It's hard as hell. Without immersion (ie moving to China) you're probably looking at two years of serious study to be reasonably fluent at a minimum. The best time to start is today!

The best time to start was yesterday, the second best time to start is now comrade! I use Hellochinese, it's very effective and I just pace myself and give myself time and I've made decent progress

Self-driving car technology still isn't practical and deploying them effectively would require designing your entire road infrastructure around them, at the cost of pedestrians and public transit.

Anyways, if you need help being driven around, then you might as well have human-driven cars/shuttles since you'd likely need help (or at least the option of help) embarking and disembarking.

Sure, but they might be a thing in a decade or two and building infrastructure without looking and planning ahead is just negligent.

That runs more frequently at lighter capacity.

Some engineers have an idea and want to run with it. Have a bit of faith in the state to try new things.

This seriously looks bad. Don't get me wrong, I doubt any government on earth would build something better, but this has some major flaws. Connecting it to Beijing with a highway like it's 1980 is going to flood the city with more cars. Building higher than five stories gives you diminishing returns. Building on floodplains is the opposite of good planning. What sensible planner wants to build gas power plants in 2022? And self driving cars? That shit's getting old. Besides, if cities are walkable even seniors don't need cars.

This will be a better city to live in than most US cities. However, that's not a standard to stan for.

4% full 1/25 million capacity with a 1% or lower growth rate per year

I won't be mad if they flip it around but I don't think they're gonna
