I was on a Wikipedia rabbit-hole a while ago, and apparently there was an real majorly-circulating magazine promoting actual fucking Mercenaries (they got people to sign up for the Rhodesian Bush War) as a "Lifestyle". They got taken to court multiple times for hosting actual hit-man contracts as personal ads that were actually carried out & resulted in people getting injured or killed. Not only were the never actually shuttered by the government, but the fuckin Fifth Circuit Court (the same one that has been in the news recently) reversed a $9.5mil damages lawsuit that had previously been successful against the company, literally because :freeze-peach: .
