I mean of course they're gonna charge him.
However it's not going to accomplish anything and will actually just rally his base and he'll win 2024 in an electoral college landslide
Good thing they spend that year and a half letting the politics around this cool down so much. Wouldn't want the process being overtaken by passion and make it all political.
