I think poor people still see politics materially. They're only separate to comfortable people, who they've always been separate for. That's not something new, not even new because of capitalism generally. All the lofty word salad of wealthy people's political views has existed probably since feudalism and all that. The whole "liberalism" thing is basically exactly that. And the "freedom and democracy" propaganda of the US is that too, as opposed to material things like "self-determination for oppressed peoples" that the USSR championed. And fascist rhetoric is all about symbolism and vibes instead of material things too. That's like the #1 thing about non-communist propaganda, it's all vibes-based instead of addressing people's needs (which is the exact thing it's trying to avoid).
