One thing to point out - compare the contents of this magazine to any woman-focused magazine or TV ads or anything from the West around the time. They would all focus on domestic goods for purchase, or clothes or stuff like that. The only representation allowed was of the housewife, that too someone who was white.
Not in this magazine. You have people of all Soviet ethnicities, working all sorts of jobs. It's such a different world.
This is so cool, and it really shows how much quality can be contained in a magazine when it's not produced with minimum cost maximum profit in mind.
I wish I lived after communism was the new status quo, but maybe then I wouldn't be as appreciative of it
