Me: literally wishing that everyone on this planet were vegan so that animals were treated better, I'd have more people to relate to, and I'd have more people that I'd actually feel comfortable with dating

Veganism makes me feel more of a weirdo, an outcast, and reserved actually.

🥺

When you see someone make a sacrifice purely for the benefit of others that you aren't willing to make, it casts doubt on your self-image as a good person. Your choices are to step up to their level, admit your shortcoming and live with it, or come up with justifications (however paper-thin) to think that their decision is actually vain and selfish.

It's actually been quite a while since I've heard someone be a dick to me about being vegan, and I work in kitchens. Lately it's like I'm given the position of moral superiority by them but it's on some weird saintly level that stops them from having to consider doing so themselves. Sorta the "that's amazing, wow! You really have got some convictions there! Wowee! I couldn't ever do that!"

Like...I just eat different stuff. If anything it's one of the cushiest ways to practice my principles that I've got. I don't have to risk my job or physical safety or even go to boring meetings (try being the only leftist who works weekends and evenings apparently). Not putting cows in my mouth is easy as fuck.

Nope, but that's where my resume is oriented and the jobs I can readily get. I work vegan places when I can but mire often than not those places make up for the animal exploitation through human exploitation and are often run by the most ego driven and delusional business hippies who sell snake oil to cancer patients on the side like the Organic Market I worked for. All jobs are a series of moral compromises thst were forced to endure and working with meat is simply another one of those. I'd rather not and due to my preference have worked in vegan restaurants previously, it's what I was doing prior to covid and then they cut the staff and went take out only and the owner noticed how muchore profitable that was and kept it that way. The other vegan restaurant is owned by a vegan slumlord thst made the papers by raising the rent on a mostly senior complex by $500. I'm fucked either way, I mostly do logistics and plating nowadays anyway. I'm.calling orders and sending them most days and when prep is concerned others handle meat stuff and I handle thst which is veg related and they to bring as much vegan specials and whatnot to the table as possible with some decent success.

Was gunna say. I think ide rather be jobless that chopping up someone else's body parts for others to eat. I think I would lose my mind.

If I'm jobless I'm homeless and if I'm homeless I'm not vegan cause that's not a doable combo
