          a whole bunch of people I know have just changed their name by asking people to call them by a different name.

          that being said by it's nature it has to be a fairly public thing because how else are people going to know to call you by a new name or be able to refer to you in all the myriad ways we use names

          yeah but imo it shouldnt show your old name in trans stuff because its a source of discrimination that could be avoided. just having the new and the old documents should be enough to transition all names

          honestly its probably a way to discriminate against married women too
