Whether it’s for work or when your going out or whatever? It seems most people don’t now, but I’ve seen some places still have them. Kinda weird cuz it’s not like COVID’s gone. I still wear a mask but I’m the only person that does at my workplace and it’s kinda awkward tbh.

If I am inside and around other people (e.g. grocery store) then damn right I'm still wearing a mask. Ngl, I'm unpleasantly surprised how many here have said they don't wear masks now, when not long ago it seemed like the consensus was (imo rightly) that it was uncaring and irresponsible at best. I get it, what good can it do when no one else around is doing it? But I still want to do everything I can to minimize the chances of further fucking up my health, potentially long term, as well as risk even a slight chance of being a vector for doing that to someone else who doesn't deserve it.

:this: i've been disappointed in hexbear users before (albeit rarely) but this one seriously sucks

I know, right?? Makes me wonder why and when this unfortunate shift in hexbear opinion happened.

Yeah, like I said, I get why people cave and just do what everyone else around them is doing. But I could have sworn it was only like a month ago that this same question was asked (I mean the question op is asking) and it was near unanimous here that the answer was somewhere along the lines of "fuck yes we're still wearing masks and if you're not you're an asshole and a bad communist for putting others at risk and also foolish for putting yourself needlessly at risk." Lots of comments about telling off libs or chuds who sneer at mask use, lots of discussion about how each reinvention increases odds of long covid and more severe health problems, etc.

What I was wondering about was why there seemed to be such a shift away from that in such a short time specifically here. I mean, it could be a number of reasons, I'm sure, but I find it odd and disconcerting.

:fry: ...not sure if you read my comment.

I know why the general populous shifted their stance and when. I don't know why it shifted here at hexbear in like the last month.

More users here are American radlibs than would like to admit it.

i literally live in florida, i am routinely the only person in public spaces wearing a mask

and i feel like it's worth mentioning that i am not even remotely tough to defend myself if someone decided to make an issue of it, but i do it anyway because spreading a deadly virus is a shitty, anti-human thing to do

Yeah, this is pathetic. "But I don't want to wear one forever!" How about having some fucking solidarity? Jesus, this is supposed to be a "leftist" website.

"i don't wanna wear a mask forever :cri:"

contributes to people who are immunocompromised/don't want lifelong health issues having to wear a mask forever

seriously disheartening from people who are supposed to care about others as a matter of course
