Thank god that Albanian hater left the pod, now I can enjoy Cumtown without all the ugly bigotry.

Cumtown exists in its own metaverse where ironic "-isms" are allowed and frequently hilarious. By any objective measure the podcast is obscenely racist, homophobic, ableist etc and not funny in the slightest. I loved every second of it. Stav's laugh made the podcast. I never listened to new episodes but the clip farms on youtube are gunna dry up sad day.

It's more like reveling in the absurdity of those various bigotries than seriously propagating them, although that's often a very thin line

And they walk that line in such an impressive way, it's great. Nick's so quick on his feet too. On the episode I was listening to today, a guest brought up Christian gay conversion therapy camps. Nick goes (paraphrasing, he did it way funnier)

N: "oh not a Jewish one"

        Adam: "those exist too"

N: (mimicking voice of preacher) "Hey there little Timmy, here's $4..." And then he'd be sweating, "..5 dollars?" "No I am still gay" {stav loses it} "6 dollars?" "OKAY I AM NOT GAY ANYMORE JUST GIVE ME THE MONEY"

Guest: anyway, christian gay conversation camp

And that's just a tiny throwaway bit. Nick's bits about Chinese or Jewish people are always so absurd , and he pulls it off. Magnifique

red scare is unlistenable and I've never seen it seriously recommended

yes I love the show where two Brooklynites with cigarette voice call everything cucked

One thing that is often understated about them (and chapo really) is that they're sort of the perfect representation of millenials. Like a pretty strong belief in minority rights and lgbt rights, while also calling your friend gay is just what a lot of millenials were like growing up. Like a surprisingly apt distillation of a generation.

Its ok to find it funny. You dont have to self flagellate yourself by doing weird "i know by any objective measure it wasnt funny in the slightest because it was problematic" disclaimers. Nick is legit a brilliant comedian and the chemistry was great

Nick is a sociopath who was constantly on the brink of tearing the podcast apart by being an asshole and a control freak. Good riddance. Looking forward to the rise of Stav.

Yeah, stav has been more angry at Adam in recent episodes. Idk if the podcast can survive without him. Someone needs to moderate between Nick and Adam and laugh at Nick's jokes. I know that they were planning on phasing out the pod anyways, but I didn't think it would be piecemeal like this.

Without the Stav Laugh? Its basically just Dudes Do Red Scare.

The most recent episode was released before Stav announced his departure, but you can tell they already know he's left (Adam says something about "our friend Stav" which is a weird way to describe the longtime co-host of the show), and the episode is dire. Like they're going to need to get a new co-host or arrange a guest for all the remaining episodes because the show just doesn't work without him. It hardly works anyway. Losing Stav seems like a death-blow to me.

I saw his standup with friends once and he was pretty good but I listened to an episode of cumtown at the gym once and I thought it was horrible

So good for Stav i guess

He's usually pretty funny when I hear him on other podcasts, like chapo trap house or tmbs (RIP Michael), but I can never get through a cumtown episode either.

My only exposure to Cumtown is when Stav or Adam goes on Chapo, and Stav is manifestly more talented than Adam who is both very annoying and very dumb. Also, since they have never invited Nick on, I can only assume he is like Sam Hyde levels of not-PC.

Nick has been on CTH but only in controlled circumstances like as a voice part on a holiday episode

EDIT: I forgot about Eyes Wide Shut episode, I haven't listened to it yet waiting to watch the movie first

Lol that's not true, Nick was on to review Eyes Wide Shut this year, and was on to talk about Epstein like 2 years ago. He's not on Chapo often, but he's on the guest list.

I had a dream I was a cumtown host, but I was even lower on the social heirarchy than Adam and even this other host who was an asian woman comedian that was only on like 1 out of 5 episodes.

good for stavvy, love him, never had an interest in :volcel-judge:-town. he's too much of a decent person for that, and his stand-up is starting to pop off.

some of the humor there is from seeing how offensive and off-topic they can be during an ad read and still keep the advertiser

they once had an advertiser called Thursday Boots but Nick said something about wearing them to kick-fuck a child

It seemed like 90% of the episodes I heard was them trying to read an ad for Blue Chew and getting interrupted by randomness. Maybe that’s the point

      That, and Adam shitting himself.
