just watched ghost in the shell. pretty good! admittedly i'd like it even if it was poorly written just for the animation and mood, but it's a great movie.

Have you seen the show? It's a cop show :acab: but it's mostly about cyberpunk stuff like the movie.

The show and the OVAs are both pretty good. The more recent CGI entry was pretty trash though.

I liked the Playstation and PS2 games too. First one is an absolutely awesome arcade shooter and the second is a third person shooter that was little bit janky because it tried to do Matrix-like movement.

i got the dvd box set along with the movie for christmas a while back. i'm going through my list of stuff to watch, and I'm starting with the stuff i own physically, so i'll probably start it soon.

edit: also, sf cops are less bad than any copaganda that takes place in our world as is

Imo the best "capitalism realism"-critical movie that ever was made. I don't know how they did it in 1995.

could you elaborate on that some? i picked up some of that, but not enough to say it's one of the best ever.

Yup. The characterization is kind of thin, but it's beautiful. The worldbuilding is way more dense and worldly than the film.

it looks bad. like, the story could be great, but that animation absolutely can't carry the vibes necessary for cyberpunk.
