I'll still listen to their music sometimes yeah. It's just hard to separate the art from the artist when the art is often about radical politics the artist pretends to have. Him crying after BLM and begging people to stop was hilarious(ly pathetic)

why do so many artists I like have to turn out to be like this? At least we still have Boots Riley.

All artists are 3/4 brain dead. I love art and music and admire many artists but ultimately they're hopeless

I mean don't take it personally. I was a musician for like 15 years, and originally went to art school and still make a lot of art. People call me an artist. I say this as someone who can't deal with having a deep love and appreciation for art and music but who consistently discovers that their "idols" are really really dumb except for like 1-2 things that they are consistently brilliant at. Its cope for myself and feel free to disregard it as such

Yeah I love the coup. Genocide and juice had been my protest warm up album all summer :cat-vibing:

He went from being universally praised, called the best to ever do it, called a genius, to being asked to reevaluate one aspect of his act and it completely broke his brain. He couldn't stand that people didn't continue accepting every single word that came out of his mouth as brilliant. His ego won't allow him to actually think about what people are telling him, he feels like he has to explain it to us because he thinks we're just not getting it.

Sometimes I do self-crit because lots of comedians are or have been transphobic, and I can still laugh at Norm MacDonald. I wonder if it is racism that make Chapelle the most hated target. Then I remember everything Norm did still qualifies as jokes, albeit horrible ones, Chapelle is just stating his hatred. John Cleese is just a fossil, he doesn't do anything but cameos and interviews between grieving his quickly dying friends, but Chapelle is still influential and doing his best to spread transphobia. That's why I just want the other old guys to shut up or die, but want bad awful things to happen to Chapelle, and can never watch his bits.

Everybody dunked on him for being lame so his "actually im cool I swear" excuse was that he was tripping hard on shrooms and was feeling all lovey dovey. He's an aristocrat and a brand.

Killer Mike is a living, breathing example of why you need to read theory so you don't stumble ass-backwards into reactionary views

Killer Mike is the black capitalism that Fred Hampton warned us about. It's enticing because fuck, black people are systematically excluded from even being petty bourgeois and it does have an impact on how people can live. But it sure is corrosive, since class interests trump solidarity nearly every time and will actively work against the latter.

It's nuts how much trans issues are a barometer for actual radicals vs obligatory liberal lipservice.
