Serious, yes, uncritical, no. I’ve seen plenty of users here bring up valid criticisms of various socialist leaders that they otherwise support. And it’s a good thing too, imo, lest we stray too far into great man/hero worship territory

That's the thing with these things, you get into a political discussion and things get very gray and hypothetical. It can be pretty interesting if people want to get a deep understanding and dive deep in the discussion, but uncritical support for the USSR's actions or demonizing the USSR's actions usually terminates the discussion long before anything of value is extracted from it.
Yeah what you're saying is true. So many revolutionaries are so thoroughly demonized that thinking Stalin did good made you out like some sort of a maniac outside of ML spaces, and there are legitimate criticism informed communists can make that are far cry from the mud reactionaries sling.
