    Yes. They were indeed a landlord and warrior caste.

    I have met dozens of them in my life and only 1 of them did not exhibit toxic masculinity. I went to their wedding once and the groom was walking around with a sword.

    A lot of them were rulers of tiny "kingdoms" in western parts of India. Most of these were not bigger than a few villages. Some of them wanted to be sovereign states before Sardar Patel bullied them into joining India. They were literally getting lavish amounts of money from the Indian government for doing nothing till Indira Gandhi wisely decided to cut them off.
