It feels like it's dying. Just anecdotally it seems like there have been less threads lately, less quality threads, and less discussion overall. More anecdotally I feel like the last couple of federation / defederation slap fights ended with many users leaving as well. I can think of a few who left because we were federating, some who left because we then subsequently defederated from lots of the fediverse, and then even a few who said they would leave if we didn't defederate and then left anyway when we did.

I feel like mostly overall I have seen very few new posters, and have seen less and less of some certain power posters.

Is this just a illusion or is this really what's happening. What is to be done?

I'm frequently making comments to the effect of "the recent advancements in AI are actually tangible and not just a grift for VC money, so we should be aware of the fact that it might not be a fad and it could represent a pretty big shift in power against labor". Is that what you're considering "pro AI stuff"? Because every time I mention it goes over like a lead balloon 'round these parts.

Because I don't consider that type of sentiment to be either pro or anti AI, but rather an observation of the material world.

no I meant the struggle session about if AI art is actually good because it lets disabled people draw or something. Which is like, yeah, but idk something about how people use AI art doesn’t make me think that’s it’s current social function (it’s what you’re saying, a tool against labor)
