It's chambered .338 Norma mag/Lapua mag. I don't know anything about guns though so I have no idea what I can stick on the top.

I've shot before and am pretty good, but I never cared to actually pay any attention to the configuration or hardware. Someone recommended Zero Compromise's ZC527-2 but I've also heard good things about Nightforce, Schmidt Bender, etc and I don't know how much a 5K scope is over a 3K scope...
Any help is much appreciated by this noob.
The advice I've received about scopes in the past essentially amounted to "you're not going to be good enough for a $3k scope" at first; and that it's unsound financially to drop that much on the first one without knowing what you like and don't like in scopes. Spend $500-1k on something that goes up to 30x, figure out what you like and don't like about it after shooting a bit, and then make an informed decision about a higher end one.
