My cousin was dating a "communist." She was really just kind of a social democrat type who would refer to herself as more leftist than she actually was. Like she'd call the police and military socialist programs. She liked Obama.
It was more than enough to freak my aunt out though. There was a big incident where my aunt screamed at her and gave her an ultimatum to either start loving America or leave her son. Then my cousin "fixed" her and now she's a Qanon maga idiot who is completely embedded in some creepy evangelical cult. It was like a lightswitch too, completely instant.
