ambivalent about this non-drama because the only true thing Orwell ever wrote was that restaurants are bullshit and shouldn't exist. in communism, you will only ever eat in a house, or a public canteen.
You'd still need workers to prepare food at canteens. And I guess machines have mostly taken over a chunk of the skilled part of a barista's job, but under communism I'd still hope we get good espresso and lattes.
Yeah the good coffee shops are a treat I usually try to restrict to once or twice a week.
Even with my aero press I don't have the skill or time to get on their level. Now obviously Starbucks slop isn't the same, but they're still doing work. Does the factory worker deserve a union while the artisan doesn't?

We don't live in communism, we live under capitalism, where restaurant staff exist and most definitely do labour.

I feel like the people engaging in this nonsense have simply never had a really good shot of espresso. That shit is an art.

These idiots are deranged.
twitter discourse is the most cursed of discourse
ahem he said smart hotels shouldn't exist. Different from the concept of the restaurant.
That's pretty much just semantics, though. Public canteens would basically be socialised restaurants.
