There were attempts, but radio jamming isn't very exact, and that got even more difficult once satellite signals became more common. Sometimes the USSR would just give up or decide it was a waste of money, like there wasn't any jamming between 1973 and 1980.
Really? The Soviet people could listen to BBC and VOA? I thought they jammed those transmissions?
