    I stopped talking to my mom when she agreed with her friend that I was a mooch for taking that sweet, sweet $1500 a year in FAFSA money to go back to school. Mom made sure to max out her credit cards buying new scuba gear before filing for bankruptcy a couple decades ago and did not appreciate the comparison, that was apparently fine and good.

          I mean, that's 100% a downscaled version of what Trump would do, so it's spot-on in that regard, but so is taking just about anything from the government that you can. Maybe ask her what's untrumpian about what you took from the government? I apologize for the cursed train of logic, but diplomacy means meeting people on their terms sometimes.

            Her understanding of politics is very superficial, the only news she was interested in was E! News until she dated a few ultra conservatives. I've always likened it to the person in high school that started wearing different clothes when they began dating someone to match their aesthetic.

              It's a shame she doesn't seem to extend that impressionability to her kid, but I guess it would be strange if she did.
