I remember when I was 19/20 and my beard didn't connect between the cheeks and mustache area. I used to do something similar and try to shape mine by carving out more of the space so it appeared purposeful and not just like some Joe Dirt shit going on.

Fortunately for me my beard now fully connects. Unfortunately for Mr. Bonnadouchy his beard probably never will. Damn.
