Hey, kiddos, I know that some of you are in school and fretting over what career to go into. "I got a degree in gender studies, now what, ahhh!" Some of you are just sick of being poor.

Do you have a bachelors in a social science or two years of activist experience? Are you willing to work 100 hours a week for 45K? Is a clean conscious more valuable to you than your sanity? Work for a union! Go become an organizer in training for SEIU or AFSCE or Unite-Here or some other expansion-minded union. Meet workaholic comrades.

Being a teacher isn't the only way to get over-worked for 45K with a clean conscious, there's always union work.

Burnout is common.

      :sicko-blur:

Unionizing the union organizers and backflipping sideways into cross-industry organization.

Many of them do lmao. Unions are also hilariously anti-union for their own staff.

And then watch as the union you work for endorses every local imperialist politician because they understand exactly which side their bread is buttered on.

There's not much better praxis than union organizing, though. Honestly if I could go back and do it all over again this is the career path I would take. I think the 100 hours thing is a bit of an exaggeration, come on.

It is an exaggeration, except in lead up to a strike or election when the whole crew will just be expected to work and sleep until it's done.

There's no way I would work that many hours a week. When I was struggling to make ends meet I worked 60-70 hours a week and it felt like my brain was splitting. Good for anyone that can though

this is just the "non-profit" job pitch tbh. Unless you're an "administrator", then you get 200k to check your email twice a week.
