    Some usually more middle/upper class Italian Jews joined up with the blackshirts originally because they thought this would ensure that they would still get to remain in the in group and keep them from persecution, and genuinely couldn’t comprehend how they could walk the walk and talk the talk and still be considered part of the other just bc of blood or religion. There’s plenty of books / films on this, but I don’t recall all the names off the top of my head but here’s an article somewhat in the essence of it

    article is from 1928 and basically is like the facists will never go after the Jews in Italy that would be ridiculous, Jews are some of the most patriotic Italians, there are so many Jews in Mussolini’s cabinet etc.
