Polish and German authorities are working "flat-out" to establish the cause behind a mass fish die-off in the river Oder, German Environment Minister Steffi Lemke said on Friday, warning of an environmental catastrophe.
Sounds like the unknown substance could be mercury, well done :poland-clap:
It took several weeks for the Polish authorities to notify anybody of this, btw. Nobody was informed that they shouldn't use the river water for irrigation, that it should not be given to animals, that people shouldn't fish in the Oder. The officials responsible for that have now been fired, but the damage is obviously done.
