Grayzone did a lot of good work, particularly in Latin America.
Blumenthal broke the judicial coup against Lula. Ollie Vargas and Ben Norton were on the ground for Bolivia. Aaron Mate handled the Syrian gas attacks.
But Blumenthal has swung into the reactionary and pro-Covid camp, and most of the good writers there have left, with the remaining ones pulling shit like in the linked comments.
Overall, the Greyzone has been a net positive to the left. Having worked there shouldn’t be a mark of shame. But it’s entering into an embarrassing decline.
Now it sits with RT. Sometimes puts out decent stuff. But also has some cringe views.
I didn’t know how to articulate it before, but “cringe” is a very good way to describe GrayZone now
Grayzone had a very good article on the "Uyghur Genocide" which they published like 3-4 years ago and it still holds well.
Look that thread is ridiculous, but you're not helping either by subposting the argument. This is also not the first time you've done this.
Hexbear users often tell me to never visit :reddit-logo: even to lurk. :zizek-ok:
But sometimes the :reddit-logo: attitude and toxicity comes from inside the Hexbear. :lea-why:
The context of your "sorry" was :reddit-logo: tier passive-aggressive and condescending, like the rest of your communications with me today. No amount of :shrug-outta-hecks: hides the toxic nonsense you're hurling, up to and including making a self- :congratulations: thread to pat yourself on the back for supposedly using an emote first while dabbing on your sectarian ideological enemy over some internet people I truly never heard of until today, much to your continued outrage.
If this is a last word game to you, it fits right in with the rest of your :reddit-logo: attitude today. Seriously, that thread you just made to :congratulations: yourself for your le epic usage of :logout: makes me feel like I never left that site.
Stop being a toxic douche with insincere snark-laden "apologies" and I won't have anything to reply to.
Gotta agree, this user would be much more at home on reddit. If the admins ever get around to implementing a block function they will be the first person I block for sure. I used to not see the need for the block function, but removing this person's posts from my feed would make the site noticeably better immediately.
There are people I'd be happy to block, most recently one that keeps putting the "disengage" card at me after being a toxic condescending asshole, in much the same way that grade school bullies metagame the supervisors on the playground to get others in trouble.
Yeah someone did that to me like a week ago, can't remember who it was. Fortunately we have reasonable mods who don't let you 'weaponize' the disengage rule like that so I always just laugh at them, but it is a fascinating tell of some of the bullies who hang around here. The one who did it to me even accused me of "just wanting the last word" and then like 3 comments later tried to make the mods enforce their ability to have the last word lol
And now I just got told that they had to remove their own self- :congratulations: thread, the one about the le epic use of le :logout: , because I "refused to disengage."
I try to give most people a benefit of a doubt, even ones that really rub me the wrong way, but this time, it's just too... this.
Automatically gonna side with A Sebrian Milf cause at least they're not insecure enough to make a whole-ass "plz upvote me" post outside c/strugglesession
