    not to get too dark/heavy but you see this shit on the new york metro now? we've entered a stage of shock doctrine where you don't even need the shock to do the doctrine anymore. you can just roll out heavy security measures with zero pushback anymore and it's just normal

      I've been riding and looking at what's outside the window and mixed with the Metro shit, it feels like a prequel to Parable of the Sower. Such a good book and proves Octavia Butler was prescient.

      It's disturbing because as third spaces are closing, we're losing any place where you can really exist without being under surveillance/the threat of death.

      It's funny too because I was also thinking about Midgar from the original Final Fantasy 7. The train checkpoints and the ability the elites have to remove personhood from entire communities.
