The fact that they can't just be a rare and elusive "gay person who happens to be a republican but keeps their mouth shut about it and doesn't feel the need to hint at it every 5 seconds" speaks volumes to me.
No grifting, marginalized conservatives are like that quoted hypothetical, though, so I don't know why I expected better than the usual.
Reminds me of how Blaire White accuses every trans person not exactly like her of being an attention seeker when her entire schtick is trying to ostentatiously demonstrate how she's "one of the exceptionally good trans people" to a point where it's all she's known for.
