Eh, If you were a literal superhero, you could probably get things to change. An entrenched and inflexible bureaucracy wouldn't be willing to give up power for needed changes and reforms, but if threatened with a literally unstoppable super-owl, they might step down and accept far reaching reforms that aren't just capitulating to capitalism. Like, great-person theory would actually work with superman-level OP superheros.

Not even a little bit. Gorb had started the process of privatization but the CPSU still held enough power to say "well, that didn't work" and revert control of major industries all the way to '91, but chose instead to double down on neoliberalism and keep making things worse.

By the time of the coup attempt against Gorbachev, it may have been impossible to salvage things without sparking a second Russian Civil War, but that's something we'll never know.

Defend :sankara-salute: . Spend my infinite strength and speed to build roads and rail lines and irrigation (with consultation from environmental scientists). Give Africa infrastructure so they don't get trapped in IMF and world bank loan traps. If I have time, do something similar in Latin America.

When Lex Luthor was elected President of the United States in 2000, he appointed Jefferson Pierce as Secretary of Education, with Pierce accepting as he concluded that he could do more good working within the system than outside it.

Special edition maybe where he meets Fidel Castro during Castro’s visit to Harlem

Edit: just realised this is set in the 80s, maybe rewrite that to him having a flashback to meeting Castro as a child or something during Castro’s visit

I would be a super spy character for something like Cobra Command and stop the "War on Drugs" and Neo-colonialism . A sort of Anti/Reverse-G.I. Joe story. An agent of a global paramilitary organization that does all it can to stop global imperialism, a multi-national alliance of against the forces spies and agents that unite against the forces of global capital and empire. I think it would be a fun story.

I think that would cool. for whatever reason I feel like it need that campy Saturday morning cartoon vibe but still show the effectiveness of transnational cooperation against paramilitary super-powers. Somewhere in-between Metal Gear Solid, GI Joe, and the old Nick Fury comics.

Round up every CIA agent that was in my country and burn them alive to send a message. Their death squads used to smash kids heads against walls, so doing this is pretty tame in comparison.

Splitting my time between using my Super Juice to accelerate modernization in the third world and periodically teleporting behind the head of the CIA to push him down a fight of stairs.

Also, every four years, I compete in the Soviet hockey team during the Olympics

Superman, invincible, just wandering around CIA headquarters shoving people in to lockers or sneaking up behind and tripping them for a few hours every day as the CIA grows more and more frantic trying to find ways to make him stop.

I think a cool character would be a defensive/inspiration-based super-hero, able to redirect harm to themselves, and instigate compassion in people. Like in one scenario, the hero might stand in front of a protest, soaking up rubber bullets and tear gas in a sort of gravity vacuum. In another, they give a CIA operative mega-Havana syndrome by forcing them to experience empathy for the first time in their life.

The US (or a 'rogue asset' decides to nuke Moscow, and the hero travels there to absorb the full blast, leaving the citizens unharmed, they then go on TV to explain to the world what happened and inspire a drastic de-nuclearization.

I made a game in RPGMaker2000 where the final battle with the big boss was a cut scene where the hero curses the boss with empathy and he dies o f guilt. I really think fixing some brains to work properly would be super powerful.

You have to go after Yeltsin too. But the privatization of Soviet industries started in the 80s (and made the shortages it was meant to solve worse) so maybe you should talk to Gorb about that.
