Being legitimately concerned about what color the text bubbles are in your chat app is incredibly on brand for iPhone users.

    Muh aesthetics!!

There are people that legitimately care about what color your bubbles are. To an extent this was originally due to compatibility issues with group chats, but that is no longer a problem, it’s just inane classism perpetuated over aesthetics

Nah its also about not being compatible with certain imessage features or whatever, but half of them will straight up admit that "the green bubbles are just ugly" when pressed. Instead of blaming Apple for purposefully making their devices incompatible they blame android users for being poor or whatever.

In the film industry, a lot of gigs are gotten through group chats you get into through friends. If you have an android they don't invite you bc "it breaks the chat format" or whatever. Total yuppie aesthetics. Apple sux

I've failed to convince multiple family members to use WhatsApp. Like, I guess I don't want to talk to you either?

ok, but fuck google too. google's rcs standard is also woefully outdated and they have been dragging their feet on glaring sms problems for years.

    corporation :unity: corporation
    ruining things for everyone

Yes, Google started that campaign that made it seem they were against the green/blue bubble thing, but in reality it's a campaign to try and pressure Apple to use it's RCS standard, which not only sucks but also lets Google see all that messaging data.

Android phones and iPhones use non standard messaging protocols on top of their sms (texting) applications. On android it’s pretty invisible to the user. On iOS it uses a blue speech bubble for the text to indicate it’s an iMessage (apples sms extension) instead of a green one. I don’t know why normal people care, but both companies have been trying to get the other to use their standard for years now.

Iirc apple had it before google but they weren’t the first (blackberry might not even have been the first).

I know all cellphones are tracking us but that emergency satellite thing and the crash detection in the 14 feel sketchier than normal.
