i was going to go "um sweaty its turnstile not turnstyle :expert-shapiro:" but ig turnstyle is also commonly used.

The word turnstyle is a common misspelling of turnstile. Both words are used interchangeably depending on where you are and who you are talking to. The spelling “turnstyle” is more often found in the United Kingdom, while the spelling “turnstile” is most commonly found in the United States. Though interchangeable, “turnstile” will always be the correct spelling because it contains the word “stile”, which is a word representing a structure that provides people passage through or over a fence or boundary. Therefore, a turnstile is just a stile with turning components (spinning arms, barriers, etc).

English is going to have to embrace homophones and their spellings if it’s ever going to fix it’s crap spelling.
