Hans is, afaik, just another top level chess player. Not as good as the top echelon but could of course absolutely destroy any of us.

And not an online tournament, it was irl/"over the board", which is why the cheating allegations are wild because that would be much more difficult. Much more likely imo, if he cheated at all, was that he somehow got access to Magnus' prep before the game and studied it.

      Chess shit is wild

What would you consider to be "the top echelon"? Hans is considered to be a Super GM. He's within the top 50 players in the world.

Yes and no. Chess.com has a monopoly on online chess and cheating there is a big deal. However it is also kind of common place. IRL tournaments are not bound by the same online rules, even though it should be honestly, like all e-sports. Chess is outdated in this area.

This incident though was about an IRL tournament, and Hans online cheating reputation(and now proven history) served as a pretty big catalyst for all of these allegations. But since both are handled separately by different entities nothing will come out of it.

And yes even though he most likely didn't cheat in this IRL tournament.
