Hi all, Long story short, I'm a slow guy. I'm looking to read and understand theory but don't know where to start. Is there a "Marxism for Dummies" book anywhere? I really enjoyed Why Marx Was Right by Terry Eagleton, was looking for similar books in the same vein?
Blackshirts and Reds is written pretty simply. I didn't find a whole lot of specific vocabulary or stuff that required prior understanding and it's a great intro to acknowledging communism and fascism rationally.
Saw Parenti’s name a bit ago and thought the books sounded interesting, but then I forgot to write the name down, I was raging. Great to have the reminder now
here’s a link to Understanding Marxism by Richard Wolff on libgen (it’s in .epub). I haven’t read it myself but it claims to be pretty much what you’re asking for, “Marxism for Dummies”, hopefully that works for ya!
Brilliant, exactly the kind of thing I was looking for, thank you for your help!
He later released another little book called "Understanding Socialism" too. Both are short and easy to read. His clarity and ability to simplify complex ideas are amazing.
