      those knights who killed the archbishop of Cantebury sort of got drafted into a crusade as punishment but that was an exceptional case

          as I recall they killed the priest because he was becoming a political issue for the king.

          They weren't so much opposed to the Catholic church as they were murderers who lived in a society where them killing people who wouldn't show their boss respect was something they expected to be rewarded for but a priest back then was not an acceptable target for feudal violence so they got in trouble

              a knight and a mobster were basically the same thing, the mafia is literally a feudal holdover.

              also if you want to tell that story then there was that one time the italian communist party convinced a bunch of mobsters that they were the vanguard of the revolution which was in the end pretty weird for everyone involved
