      What kinda gets me is that the city is totally dilapidated and empty of noncombatants entirely. They're literally fighting over an abandoned city.

        and you've also got a ton of collapsed buildings, and dust and debris all over the streets - while catapults and trebuchets would certainly do some damage, the scale here is much more reminiscent of the destruction you'd get from bombardment with modern artillery and planes rather than medieval technology
