After my first plant turned out to be wretchedly male it was such a psychic blow that I haven't had the energy to try again until recently. And now I can't even get the seeds to sprout :deeper-sadness:
first seed germinated, planted, nothing emerged. Germinated another seed 2-3 days ago and still nothing is sprouting. I really wanted to have weed by now because my brain really does not like sobriety :(
Normally I'm the kind of guy that will go for the cheaper method, but for growing weed you really really need a good growing medium, potting soils like miracle gro that are loaded with fertilizers and will kill your seedlings with nutrient burn 100% of the time. I use coco coir and fox farm ferts, and I essentially follow the dosing calender with the ferts as if it was a hydroponic medium. Works like a charm.
Are you pH buffering when you water?
I think people are too quick to judge miracle grow stuff because it worked fine for my first plant, both as soil and as fertilizer. I get that it might make it easier to burn plants but the soil worked fine and when I started adding fertilizer I just made sure to only add a very small amount (in addition to transplanting into a pot with ground egg shells and a little bit of epsom salt for added calcium and magnesium) and it seemed to do fine. Unfortunately my plant, though vigorous and healthy, was male and useless :bawllin-sad:
And these last two attempts weren't even with miracle grow stuff but just generic "potting soil" that definitely seems like it's lower in quality, like, it's got more sticks/mulch and less "dirt"
but the good news is WE GOT A SPROUT
nah, someone suggested I add a little bit of lemon juice to lower the PH but that hasn't seemed to be necessary so far, water straight out of the tap was fine for my last plant. I didn't have any noticeable issues until flowering when some of the lower leaves started to yellow and drop off, but people said that's also normal anyway
