If you ever find yourself playing devil's advocate, you have become a debate bro. Don't play devil's advocate. Don't be a debate bro.

Playing devil's advocate has a time and place and needs prenegotiated consent. If you are a group debating a topic and how to speak about it to others it can make sense to have one of you for a set time take over that role so that you can gather efficiently talking points and see what dynamics develop.

Besides that it should have virtually no place in our world. If you do debate bro leftists or groups you are involved in without their consent you are abusing the social coherence and the other people's time. So only do it if you try to sabotage a group, say work meetings or if you are drafted to an imperialist army.
