Not gonna lie comrades, the world is feeling pretty hellish right now and I'm feeling pretty low. I need some good news or just... something to give me hope. The fact that a lot of places are forming unions is cool, so if you have any positive news like that, or even if something nice recently happened to you that you'd like to share, please share it here. It would make my day a little better. :owl-wink:

I'm in the best physical shape that I've been in for over 20 years. I suppose that's something. :arm-L: :doomer: :arm-R:

New season of Tuca and Bertie was really good too. Had some mask-on leftist angst and I was all for it.

I thought the first episode of T&B was kind of weird and over the top, compared to bojack. does it remain that way?

I'm told the whole vibe and focus of the series is very different. They were doing their own thing, but in Bojack"s world.

Haven't watched the new season yet but there was a decent amount of that in S2 too. I'm still completely obsessed with The Moss as a metaphor for capital.

Cuba passed a phenomenal change in the definition of a familt which will help out LGBTQ+ people live out their lives justly.

In other news, my roommates and I have been watching the Great British Bake Off and baking for each other every week. Tomorrow my roommate is making bread for us

found pantera, SOAD, fall of troy CDs at the op shop recently, $2 a pop.

Deeply disappointed that the FCPIPwhateverthefuck song on the Fall Of Troy album is NOT the same as the FCP Remix on guitar hero 2(3?). Day RUINED

Physio, alcoholism, and TAFE are all going well. Am writing a cover letter atm with the most confidence that it might result in work in a long time.

I'm switching over to being :im-vegan: and its going pretty smoothly. I've tried in the past and fell off the wagon after about a week but it's been longer than that this time and I'm doin fine, so this time might be for life.

I tried making cinnamon bread for the first time last night. It's incredibly tasty, even though the cinnamon swirl ended up sinking to the bottom of the loaf and made the bottom of the loaf break off in the pan. It was really easy too, and I'm pretty bad at baking.

The crisper drawers in the fridge are just about completely filled up with squash right now. And that's after having eaten about half of what we've harvested this year so far.

The jalapenos are slowly turning from green to red, not so fast that I can't keep up with getting them in the freezer like last year.

The Chinese Giant Red Pepper (a bell pepper) plants aren't producing much, but what I've been picking are pretty frackin big.

Ayyyy nice to see this thread! THanks for making it comrade!

For my own part, going on a really cool work trip soon for a week. Somewhere in Europe, won't say where/when. Haven't thought much about it at all, but its coming up! Beyond that, getting back into the swing of things with band practice after that (drummer has been touring with other projects), and I'm making good friends (I think) with a circus performer my partner introduced me to! They're gonna come over sometime soon and watch Pearl + Barbarian and carve pumpkins.

Oh and someone has agreed to build me a 300 watt tube amp (Marshall plexi clone with adjustable mid freq+active control. So something like a Plexi with some Ampeg or Mesa style controls). Yes, I wear earplugs every time I plug my gear in.

Posted this in the mega earlier

Oversharing time: Spent the last few years pretty much only buying boring clothes that I could wear to work or whatever comfortable clothes to wear at home. I was too busy/broke/low-key depressed to justify buying anything else because I was at work or at home like 95% of the time.

Finally starting to come out of that, came out as NB a while back decided to get some new clothes. Spent some extra on some stuff I thought I would really like. Feels kinda euphoric wearing them. Realizing oh yeah, I had forgotten that it actually feels good to wear clothes that express yourself

Wearing that stuff out today and get a really nice genuine compliment on my outfit from a stranger. Feels damn good

I was just reading about the fascist abolition of unions (historic and contemporary:ukkkraine:) and honestly, I didn't think that would fly here, not without entering the cool zone. Working conditions are so obviously fucked, poverty so obviously widespread, and those unionization efforts that succede in this, the most poisoned of all soil are inevitably those with the overwhelming support of the participants and people. Labor organizing is really the only non-treat release valve for the pressure of all these mounting contradictions, and it really feels like they've reached a level of public support that makes them both dangerous for :porky-scared-flipped: : to ignore and dangerous for :porky-scared-flipped: to try and kill in one fell swoop. That's not to say they won't try anyway-what is fascism if not irrational?- but the building steam of this newly-coalescing labor movement is such a central and visible point of struggle that I think making it illegal overnight would make a lot of people, not even necessarily ideologically aware people, go on an adventure against their boss as their last legal avenue of possible change to their miserable conditions is snuffed out. The past few years have shown us just how close everyone is to the end of their tolerance, and the past hundred years have shown that the boug barely notice and don't care- they will tighten the leash as profits fall, and conditions *will get worse. But they'll get worse in a way we have the power to explain, even as neoliberalism's power to explain its own failures fall below the level of bone scrying. The empire is as brittle and foolish as it's ever been, and Socialism is poised to overtake it on the world stage to a degree unlike anything since the first Cold War. It will become materially impossible to sit on the sidelines as failing supply lines and infrastructure lead the rich to abandon everyone else, a process that's already underway and that we can capitalize on. I'd bet you anything that leftists in Jackson, MI are having some of the most productive conversations with friends and family they've ever had right now. As climate change and imperial collapse worsens, more and more people will find themselves amenable to our point of view. Our allies number in the billions, they just don't know it yet. Now is the time for us to go out, to explain, and to never stop explaining:sankara-shining:.
