The board for any Japanese game is bound to be populated by hentai-brained imageboard otakus threatening grave consequences if a single pixel of underage anime titty is removed. People with just straight up Nazi avatars are also pretty common depending on the game.

In this case all this pre-emptive pants-shitting about censorship and altered costumes is especially hilarious since as far as I know, the Wii release Mask of the Lunar Eclipse did not even have any fanservice in it, much like the original trilogy of Fatal Frame games.

It was only the fifth game where Tecmo went full Dead or Alive with the series, adding panty shots, bikinis, wetness mechanics and big jiggly boobs even to the ghosts.

Steam tells them to not delete or close threads, specialy those critical of the game. You can look at their moderation rules. Unless it breaks the usual user guidelines they usualy can't do much which means companies don't want to invest time into moderating Steam forums because it gives them no benefit.

Even removing/closing a thread called "no bikini no buy" is going to be seen as censorship of negative opinion of the game.

Steam is bad but imo it is not worse than any sub stuck on new and without a moderator. You are right it is a bad look, but the issue is more with the Steam platform itself imo.
