    Yeah racist Americans do use the term in a racial way, but technically Hispanic is an ethnic term referring to people from Spanish south America, regardless of what "race" they are. It's basically the same as if a person from Bolivia referred to me as an Anglo because i come from the english speaking americas, regardless of my racial identity. Though as stated, to be fair to your point, most white people in America just use it to mean brown person who isn't Black.

      Always throws me off that in the USA brown people means Mexican, especially since there's white Mexicans. In Canada it's only Indians/Pakistanis/Sri Lankans/Bangladeshis considered brown.

      The race science is built different up in the north.

        It's pretty simple for white angloids, you are white, black, or brown. That's basically it.

          I had a roommate who referred to "Orientals" once and that one threw me off because we're not British people from the 1800s smuggling heroin into China

            Oh wow.... not a ton of east Asians in the region which I live so I haven't had the joy of dealing with that species of racism.
