    have we always been able to upload a video like this ("always" meaning since we got the ability to upload images directly)? it feels new

      its' relatively new in that pictrus (the hosting backend software) didn't always support it cleanly. the trick is getting a video file small enough to be accepted by the lemmy instance. usually that means short wepm's only.
