One of my kids is so shy it's painful, so I always try to get a costume to prevent anyone from making them actually say trick r treat, but they haven't picked anything yet. Never really done a family costume, but not opposed.

find two other kids and have yours be the bottom or middle one in the trenchcoat so they don't have to talk

What kind of things do they like? I am not a parent, but I would recommend your kid having more of an input if they're shy if you want to go the family costume part.

If they don't want to do a family costume, maybe they might be more open to a costume that covers their face? It could give them a sense of anonymity.

This is great advice, but I must apologize for my post. I was mostly asking what everyone else was doing. My kids will be fine. It's not too big of a deal.

We were going to recycle the family costumes from last year, but this is the first year our oldest can articulate what she wants to be (a bird) so we might go with that and then figure something out for the rest of us.

We've done both before. Would love to get creative and make this one ourselves but we'll probably end up buying something because at the moment we're both kinda feeling burned out with going stuff.

It is really difficult. We luck out because my angelic wife is a teacher and usually makes them on fall break, which is great.

My sister's fam is going as the Belchers; Bob, Linda, and Louise. I'm joining as a very large and awkward Tina. :butts:
