Wow. I'm logging back in after a long time, like 2 years, and all my posts are gone. How do I get them back?

Would you mind expanding on this? I recently went through this whole process to get put on stimulants for my ADHD, but that fell through for reasons that will sound pretty familiar as far as public health in the US goes.

Curious about this dimension of it because I remember hearing about stimulants like Ritalin causing cognitive decline through long term usage

There are non-stimulant ADHD meds you can take too. Not everyone responds to the stimulants well, but Concerta has proven very helpful for me.

Ideally if you can find a way to get past your difficulties without meds, that would be great too. Save you a lot of money and hassle.

Strongly recommend finding/pirating a copy of More Attention Less Deficit by Ari Tuckman. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was like 8 or 9, back in the 90s where they just threw pills at you and forgot about you. Always felt like everyone else got issued a manual on how to be a person and I never got one growing up. This book felt like that goddamn manual, and it took finally seeking out an ADHD-specific therapist to point me to it.

Learning to understand your neurodivergence is key to dealing with it. I cried when I read about executive dysfunction for the first time. A thing I couldn't articulate to other people, that seemed like made-up bullshit to them, was actually fucking real and scientifically valid. It reframed so much of my life.
