Even if the pinball numbers the Black Book of Communism came up with for "deaths due to communism" were true, the capitalist powers have shown they are more than willing to kill way more than that to try and stop people from choosing communism for themselves. How many people did the US kill in the Korean War? Like 20% of the population? And Vietnam? I'm sure the US wouldn't shed one tear over killing 10%-20%, and would go higher if needed.

So in China, by today's population that 10%-20% would be like 140-280 million people. Or if you go back to 1950 when monsters like MacArthur wanted to nuke the fuck out of China, the population was 550 million - so that's 55-110 million right there. I think the Black Book says Mao killed 50 million.

And then the USSR... I am 100% sure if the Soviets never developed a nuke, the US would absolutely have started dropping nukes on Soviet cities at some point in the 1950s until they gave up. Hard to say how many would be killed, but the Black Book I think attributes 20 million to Lenin, Stalin, et al. Hard to see any less than that dying in any major nuclear attack unless Soviet leadership just gave up after the first bomb. No doubt the American government (and people at the time) would have no problem killing 20, 40, or even 80 million of those "evil commie Rushkies" in order to stop a sovereign nation from choosing it's own social organization.
