I loved my wooden trains when I was a kid, I think my parents still have them for when the grand kids come around. I remember staring wistfully through Thomas the Tank Engine catalogues at the cool playsets like the crane and locomotive shed. Then I graduated to Lego trains, those I still have in a box in my closet. Now I'm dreaming of having the space for an HO layout, I picked up a bunch of track, a couple locomotives, and some rolling stock at a thrift store a year ago since I couldn't let a find like that pass me by. Maybe once I have more time this summer I'll put together a small shelf switching layout, though I'll have to find a smaller locomotive and maybe some shorter rolling stock to make it work

      Shelf switching is fun.

I probably would have gotten more into model railroading but what I've discovered is that I like the scheduling parts the most, and I got bored making scenery. My childhood model railroad had a weekly switching list but the scenery was never completed. That's why I got so into OpenTTD.

OpenTTD sounds neat, I'll have to check that out. But I also love the modeling part, I've always loved building little things like that so I might just focus my energies on a small switching layout. I'd love to be able to do continuous running but that'll have to be in the future
